Description

WHO AM I?

My name is Guyviaud Joseph pronounced (giv-e-odd) Joseph; I’m a working actor from Linden, New Jersey. Graduate of Penn State Univ with a Degree in Business/Marketing. During my undergrad at Penn State I trained with theatrical director the late Dick Caram and studied a several styles of theater including the Suzuki method performance art. As an undergraduate I went on to star in several theatrical productions including the role of Troy in Fences, written by August Wilson. After college I went on to work at CBS News as a successful Account Executive for several years; after loosing the excitement of the high profile career I decided to pursue my passion as a actor. Since the change in my career I have trained with notable acting coaches throughout the New York area; I have trained with world renowned acting coaches Susan Batson, Wynn Handman and Bob Krawkower who have all trained Academy Award winning actors that praise their methods of training. Since my first role in a major network series as a co-star in Unforgettable (2014), I booked a consistent stream of co-star roles (10 in 1&1/2 years). Along with supporting role in blockbuster films such as John Wick 2 and commerically I have booked 4 national and many regional commercials. Between filming I began to take on roles in production and I have worn several hats behind the camera, I have worked as a Producer and AD for many productions giving me insight into the entire process of film making from conception to completed film.

DESCRIPTION - WHY THIS COURSE?:

I’ve always enjoyed sharing my knowledge with serious and committed actors eager to grow and willing to put forth the suitable effort to be successful, with that said I’ve helped a lot of actors that are friends and classmates advance their career. As more and more people found success word spread about my knowledge of the industry and the demand for my services increased exponentially, it was too high to work with actors in individual private sessions so I started teaching workshops in New York. As the demand for these workshops continues to grow I find it is more convenient for actors to take in the information at their own pace by implementing these workshops in a virtual classroom and guide actors that are serious about advancing their careers.

YOU ARE THE CEO OF YOUR BUSINESS:

The terms “You are a Business” and “CEO of your Brand” are probably terms you have heard at one industry event or another but most do not really understand the meaning behind these terms. After graduating Penn State with a degree in business I began working as an Account Executive at CBS, after 5 successful years of working at this fortune 500 company I learned many tools and knowledge necessary to run a successful business. After returning to the field of theater and film I decided to learn as much as possible about the Acting industry so that I could incorporate the knowledge I learned into my career as an actor.Keep this in mind: Every successful business from the local mom & pop store to the well known fast food chains have developed and implemented a business strategy that has lead to their success; if as actors we are brands then as the CEO why do most actors feel there is no need to create a business plan?

WHAT MAKES ME SO SURE?

When I first entered this industry I had a tremendous fear that I was not prepared to compete with Actors that had ‘formal’ training from a conservatory or prestigious acting program so I decided to develop a self-teaching curriculum that would give me confidence and focus in the art for acting in film, television and theater. This resulted in me reading over 70 books about acting written by successful working actors and renowned acting coaches. During my study of the art I came to the realization that many of these working actors although successful we’re still lacking knowledge about the business side of this industry. This peaked my curiosity to understand this industry from various perspectives including the Director‘s, Producer‘s, Filmmaker‘s, Manager‘s, Agency and Casting Director‘s. I’ve read a number of books, attended workshops, and question many working professionals in this industry to understand how it works as a whole. I attribute my success to not only I was wrong instrument and work ethic to study the craft but also a clear and concise understanding of the business which has taken by Actor from a level of novice filmmaking to booking rolls in major motion pictures and Primetime networks series. I am constantly attending union & industry workshops, reading books and staying abreast of the changes in our industry to better understand how to use and position it for the actors advantage.

PROVEN TRACK RECORD:

The knowledge you will learn in this course took years and years to acquire from countless mistakes made, time and resources wasted; my goal is to help those that are serious and dedicated to save time and energy to reach their goals in efficiently. As an Award-Winning Actor and Filmmaker (Take a look at my IMDB page - Guyviaud Joseph) my perspective comes from that of not only an award winning actor but producer and filmmaker in this art. These experiences have allowed me to work closely with Award-Winning Casting Directors, Directors Producers, Managers and Agents to understand this business from different perspectives and have a stronger overall view of how to get more opportunities and book more work. I have went on to book 10 Major Network & Cable Credits in a YEAR’s time frame, its possible and here you will learn how.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?

Taking this course does not guarantee your success as an actor, the work you do and amount of time you spent focusing on the business of this industry is the only thing that will guarantee your eventual success in this business. This course is for individuals that are focused, consistent and willing to spend the necessary energy to develop a strategy and game plan for your career. If you are truly committed and willing to handle the professional element of this industry then this course if PERFECT for you; but if you plan to reach success with your sheer talent as an actor this course will be irrelevant and a waste of your time. The focus of this course is not to learn and develop acting techniques, it is to understand the business in Show-Business and take control of your career!
