In this course we will have an overview of how mobility of a user equipment (UE) is handed in 5G new radio (NR). We will understand the basic call flow and then Roaming Scenarios with respect to the 5G network Architecture. We will see which network function (NF's) are responsible for the interaction of Roaming UE with radio and the core network. We will see how the roaming scenarios are implemented in 5G Technology and how interworking with 4G is formalized wherein we will have a brief discussion of deployment modes. We will also look into the different UE States with respect to Access and Mobility Function (AMF) and discuss them in detail. Intermobility in idle and connected state for third generation partnership project (3GPP) and Non-3GPP access is also discussed wherein the student will be able to comprehend the interworking with evolved packet core (EPC) with N26 and without N26 interface, he will also be able to take a view at the interworking with Wireless Local area network (WLAN). From the connected state point of view, we will cover handover procedure in 5G, inter NG-RAN Xn interface and N2 interface based. Lastly, we will understand how the specific services will be implemented in 5G Wireless Technology.
