Description

The course takes a modern approach to applying the pentatonic scale to solos and improvisation in tonal and modal harmonies through the use of combined pentatonics to bring a new flavor to the scale's signature sound.

Through the classes taught in the course you will:

1- Expand your melodic vocabulary through various examples with musical phrases to create your own solos and improvisations

2- Develop the ability to connect and blend three pentatonic scales into melodic lines and phrases for a modern sound.

3-Play melodic lines over major and minor chords with seventh, dominants, half diminished, harmonic progressions, and modes generated by the major diatonic scale.

4- Evolve technically and master the instrument through specific exercises.

The subjects covered in the course meet the interests of students from different musical styles such as Rock, Pop, Jazz, Funk, R&B, Bossa Nova, Samba, MPB, etc.

The course's classes were organized into seven sections:

1. Introduction.

Six lessons on how to connect three different pentatonics in a single position to facilitate melodic fluency in solos and improvisation.

2. Theory.

A class covers the melodic and harmonic relationship of the contents taught and its applicability in a musical context.

3. Pentatonic Lateral Pattern.

Two classes of lateral exercises that make melodic execution easy, smooth and fluid.

4. Melody lines.

Twenty lessons with examples of melodic lines based on rhythmic and melodic patterns for the student to use in creating modern solos and improvisations.

5. Demonstration.

Two classes, the first one brings a demonstration solo to serve as a practical example of the contents taught in the classes applied in a musical context and the second brings a backing track for the student to practice.

6. Extra - Technique.

Extra technique course with ten lessons with technical improvement exercises to obtain precision and mastery of the instrument.

7. Closing

Thanks and solo. After the end of the course, students will be able to put into practice all the material learned in class to compose their own solos and improvisations.
