In this course, Developing Adpative Fashion 1 - Adaptive Design, we will begin to look at the process of actually developing adaptive fashion. This course focuses specifically on developing adaptive fashion through adaptive design. While this course is geared towards designers, technical designers, product developers, and production managers, learning what goes into developing adaptive fashion will also benefit merchandisers, buyers, e-commerce specialists, marketing teams, company executives, and more. The prerequisites for this course are:

  • Course 1: Introduction to Adaptive Fashion

  • Course 2: History of Adaptive Fashion

  • Course 3: Importance of Disability Inclusion in Fashion

  • Course 4: Adaptive Fashion Customer Deep Dive

  • Course 5: Adaptive Fashion Market Overview

Following a brief instructor and course introduction in lecture 1, lecture 2 will introduce you to adaptive design, universal design, and hacked clothing. Lecture 2 will also compare the benefits and challenges of adaptive design. In lecture 3, you will learn the two product development paths for adaptively designed fashion. The first product development path is modifying an existing garment. The second product development path is creating an adaptively designed product through research and development. Split into two parts over the last two lectures, we will cover the considerations to take into account when using adaptive design to create products.
