What You Will Learn!

  • Adaptive Leadership in action

Description

The module actively defines and dwells on the definition and the implementation of the concept of Adaptive Leadership in particular. It manipulates and addresses the need of the leadership in style of framework and deviation on ground which delivers the new age spectrum of challenges and approaches of the uncertain and taking immediate decisions out of the stream keeping the experiential venture in view. Adaptive leadership is a leadership approach that focuses on navigating and thriving in complex and rapidly changing environments. It was developed by Ronald Heifetz and Marty Linsky at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Adaptive leadership recognizes that traditional leadership models may not be sufficient to address the adaptive challenges that organizations and societies face today. Here are key principles and concepts associated with adaptive leadership:

  1. Distinguishing between Technical and Adaptive Challenges:

    • Adaptive leadership begins by distinguishing between technical challenges and adaptive challenges. Technical challenges have known solutions and can be addressed with existing knowledge and expertise. In contrast, adaptive challenges are complex, often lack clear solutions, and require organizations and individuals to adapt and learn as they confront them.

  2. Leadership as a Process, Not a Position:

    • Adaptive leadership views leadership as a process that can come from anyone within an organization, not just those in formal leadership positions. It encourages distributed leadership, where people at all levels take on leadership roles to address adaptive challenges.

  3. Raising the Heat:

    • Adaptive leaders understand that addressing adaptive challenges often involves "raising the heat" by confronting the discomfort and resistance that come with change. This can involve challenging long-held beliefs, norms, and practices.

  4. Managing the Work Environment:

    • Adaptive leaders create a safe environment where people feel empowered to experiment, learn, and adapt. They manage the work environment to foster a culture of innovation and risk-taking
