The way the word '"Decoration" is used colloquially, it could mean arrangement or selection of ornamental objects, arrangement of picture frames, placement of furniture, color of walls, selection of flooring, carpets, flower vases among many other things. While some of them may be true in the sense of the word, it has many other aspects to it. In fact, it has 7 dimensions to it. It covers all the areas of the habitat right from the ceiling to floor and everything in the middle
1. Color
2. Flooring
3. Upholstery items
4. Accent fabrics
5. Non-upholstered furnishings
6. Accessories
7. Plants and lighting
Post the completion of this course, one can expect to have a sound understanding of the various dimensions of decoration. It is like a multilayered petals of a flower, the more the layers the more beautiful the flower.
If one also has a sound understanding of the interior designing aspects then one can go on to use this course to lay the foundation for a very good Interior Designer and Decorator. That way, while one is designing, one can anticipate or ask for the client's preferences/plans for decoration and develop the designs so as to have minimum alterations in design later on.
I have developed a separate & very comprehensive course titled "Interior Designing and Decoration" that addresses both the design and decoration aspects.
