The ARC Future Fellowships scheme provides research funding in nationally important areas of science and technology. The ARC Future Fellowship program supports promising mid-career researchers to undertake high-quality research in Australia. The fellowship provides the way to conduct important research, start teaching and potentially, continue fix-term and permanent employment at Australian Universities. Annually up to 100 fellowships are granted by ARC for scientists (5–15 years after PhD). Future Fellowships are supported for four consecutive years on a full working contract time basis. Salary is awarded at one of 3 salary (I, II, III) levels. ARC Future Fellowships provide 4 years (salary + $60,000/year grant that covers personnel, equipment, travel, field research and additional needs) for outstanding Australian and International mid-career scientists. Typically, university provides additional $60,000 and at the end of 4th year Fellowship universities offer additional 3-5 years fixed term contract. At the end, Fellows can be permanently recruited and retained by universities in continuing academic positions. Australian universities provide support during preparations of ARC Future Fellowships.
