A warm welcome to the Automotive Electrics and Automotive Electronics course by Uplatz.
Automotive electronics technologies such as autonomous driving, all-electric cars, and in-car infotainment are the new trends in the automotive industry. Automotive vehicles are transforming into the ultimate electronic devices. Automotive electronics are predicted to constitute near a third of the total cost of the entire car. The automotive transformations give rise to new features and challenges including autonomous driving, all-electric cars with extreme high power, and high-speed and secure communications and infotainment.
Automotive electrics refer to the electrical systems used in automobiles and comprises of a storage battery, generator, starting (cranking) motor, lighting system, ignition system, and various accessories and controls. Originally, the electrical system of the automobile was limited to the ignition equipment but in modern age vehicles the electrical systems span the entire ecosystem of the vehicles.
Automotive electronics are fundamentally the electronic systems used in vehicles, including engine management, ignition, radio, carputers, telematics, in-car entertainment systems, and others. Ignition, engine and transmission electronics are also found in trucks, motorcycles, off-road vehicles, and other internal combustion powered machinery such as forklifts, tractors and excavators. Related elements for control of relevant electrical systems are also found on hybrid vehicles and electric cars.
