Ropesight is a collection of video tutorials providing the key steps in learning the fundamentals of English-style bellringing. The course is aimed at beginners and moderately advanced ringers.
New ringers will learn to master the basics of handling the bell and to achieve ropesight, a form of situational awareness during ringing. One of our main goals was to be able to show the elusive concept of ropesight, something that learners find hard to grasp. By featuring slow-motion panoramic recordings of bellringing, you will be able to experience ropesight in its clearest form.
Advanced ringers who already know how to ring methods, but wish to learn about conducting receive a comprehensive introduction to the subject. You will learn about notation, how to call various touches, and how to use coursing order to keep others right.
The course features demonstrations, animated explanations, lots of quizzes and unique first-person panoramic recordings of bellringing in slow motion from the perspective of the No.2 bell.
The course is an independent production by George Perrin, fellow bellringer and award-winning filmmaker of the 2006 documentary, 'The Craft of Bellringing'. The videos are narrated by professional voice-over artist Peter Baker. Ropesight was originally released on DVD in 2013, and is now available in HD quality on Udemy.
