In this video, I will guide you from start to finish on how to paint this brightly coloured Puffin in watercolour.
These are such b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l birds to paint, and one I intend on guiding you through all the way.

· How to use masking fluid
· Paint a wet in wet mottled background
· Feathers - using my wet in wet foundation washes
· Applying the layers details over the top giving a deep feel to the feathers
· How to paint wet and slippy looking sandeels!
· Using watercolour or Gouache white
· Plus many more techniques along the way!
So how do we paint something as lovely as a Puffin? We start with the background, and for this I want a nice mottled effect. This type of effect will allow the Puffin to stand out again the background and ensure the viewer's eye, looks at the Puffin as the main focus of interest,
the Puffin is built up using various layers of washes and detail, changing the consistency of the paint whilst doing so. We need to consider the direction of the lines, which helps to create the overall shape of the bird, alongside those initial wet-in-wet washes.
So come on....let's have a go at painting this wonderful bird together!
It's time to get those brushes wet!
