This course covers information from four chapters - microbiology, dental anatomy and physiology, dental assisting essentials, and radiation health and safety in dentistry. This course provides a +90 question exam that students can practice answering within the given time and students need to memorize these challenging questions to pass the RDA Dental Exam. Students are encouraged to review this lecture material frequently and retake the practice exam as many times as they would like to receive a perfect score. The practice exam can be taken through a powerpoint presentation by clicking through the powerpoint slides. There are 36 subsections covered in this course which include disease transmission, regulatory and advisory agencies, exposure controls, best infection control practices, PPE, waste management, disinfection in the dental office, instrument sterilization and processing, managing chemicals, bones of the head, head and neck muscles, circulation and nerves, head and neck lymph, salivary glands, sinuses, oral embryology, histology, landmarks, dentition, tooth numbering, permanent dentition and primary dentition. More topics include chairside dental assisting, dental materials, dental specialties, patient education, medical emergencies, pharmacology, foundation in health and safety, digital and conventional radiography, patient preparation and full mouth imaging, intraoral imaging techniques, quality images and mounting dental radiographs, extraoral imaging, legal considerations, and infection control. By gaining understanding of these 36 subsections students will be prepared to attend in person dental assisting programs or an online dental assisting program. Students upon completion of this class will be prepared to take the RDA exam which is offered by DANB with 250 questions in 195 minutes.
