  • How to approach each section of the ESF documentation.
  • Common mistakes made in ESF documentation.

Description

Prior to a Formula Student competition, registered teams in the Electric Category must submit clearly structured documentation of their entire electrical system (including control and TS) called the Electrical System Form (ESF). At Formula Bharat, the template for the ESF is located on the Downloads page on the Formula Bharat competition website.

The objective of the ESF is to spot rules non-compliances and poor design prior to the team's attendance at the competition. The documentation also reviews the system's safety mechanisms. The documentation covers a description of the entire system (System Overview) and a details of concept, circuitry and location of the various systems in the Electric Vehicle such as the Electrical System, Accumulator, Energy Meter, Motor Controller, Motors, Encoder, LV Parts, Overall Grounding and Firewall. The Electrical System section goes into detail of the following components and assemblies, namely, the IMD, Inertia Switch, BSPD, TSAL, TSMP, Discharge Circuits, Pre-Charge Circuit, HVD and RTDS.

Participants who take this course will find it beneficial towards a successful submission of the ESF at their competition of attendance. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that they are submitting their documentation on the most up-to-date template with respect to the rules of the competition they are registered for.
