Description

Google Earth Pro is a tool for viewing geographical information of the earth – whether it is viewing climate information, analysing change over time, seeing the world the same way you’re used to seeing or remembering routes taken while on vacation. In this course, you will learn all the basic and advanced capabilities of Google Earth Pro.

The main chapter of this course is the application of Google Earth Pro to Engineering such as Highway, Water and Irrigation and some aspects of Structural Engineering.

The course is divided into SIX parts;

  1. Introduction

  2. Use of basic tools

  3. Use of advanced tools for data extraction

  4. Application to highway engineering

  5. Application to water and irrigation engineering

  6. Application to structural engineering

Course Contents on Highway Engineering

  1. Define road alignment

  2. Road profile analysis

  3. Extracting route survey data

  4. Convert Latitude and Longitude to Easting and Northing

  5. Import Google Earth data to civil engineering software such as Civil3D, CivilCAD etc.

  6. Adding site images

Course Contents on Water and Irrigation Engineering

  1. Determination of catchment area for bridge, culvert, dam etc.

  2. Preliminary pipe layout – Setting reservoir location, pipe junction and pipe layout

  3. Exporting a base file to EPANET

Course Contents on Structural Engineering

  1. 3D modelling of proposed structure on Google Earth Pro for environmental impact analysis
