What You Will Learn!

  • How to talk to your teen about sex and relationships

Description

Research suggests that 90% of boys and 60% of girls are in contact with pornography by the age of 18. 51% of boys and 32% of girls have first seen pornography before the age of 12. We are also seeing a significant increase of young clients coming to the clinic for sexual dysfunctions. These sexual dysfunctions can be linked to improper or incomplete sex education.

This course is created by a team of professionals with over 15 years of experience in sex education. This course is intended to support parents, guardians and those working with children to be better equipped at talking to children about dating, relationships and sex. The topics discussed in this course include social media, pornography, and will focus on evidence-based and practical tips on how to talk about and discuss sex. Real-life cases and examples will also be presented.

We are Sex Clinic Malta, a Multidisciplinary Team offering 360 care for your sexual health. One of our programmes is Dating 101 which is an educational programme delivered in educational institutions from primary schools to university, with the main aim of increasing awareness and knowledge about dating, sexuality, and relationships. Dating 101 is targeted at children, youth, parents and educators at schools and institutions; both governmental and private.

The programme has been running since 2013 and was built by a lead expert in Malta who is both a warranted teacher and warranted sex and relationship counsellor. The Dating 101 Programme involves a series of different workshops and seminars which are interactive and informative. These workshops are age appropriate and focus on discussions and teachings around trust, boundaries, safety, diversity, respect, and body image, among other topics. The same topics are discussed with the children, their parents and their educators, as research suggests that a holistic and complete sexuality awareness training should involve all stakeholders.
