This course will be an adventure, diving deep into the Old Testament to understand the characters, historical events, and prophetic words spoken to the rulers and people of that time. We will look at each book of the Bible from Genesis-Malachi of the Old Testament in great detail, focusing on the major themes, outlines, significance, and application of its message to our modern life.
We will study the books of the Law, Historical Narrative, Books of Prophecy: both Pre-Exilic, Exilic, and Post-Exilic, and Books of Wisdom.
We will examine major events like Creation, Noah's flood, Covenants, Exodus from Egypt, Conquering of the Promised Land, Judges cycles, Institution of the Tabernacle, Institution of the Monarchy, problems with the Monarchy, Transition from Tabernacle to the Temple, Division of the Kingdom, Fall and Captivity, and Rebuilding Jerusalem and the Temple.
Each week will consist of pre-recorded lectures, fill-in-the-blank worksheets to follow along with the lecture, application assignments to make sense of the learned material, and a final exam taken directly from the worksheets.
