His journey to WSU followed a remarkable 21-season tenure at South Dakota State University (SDSU) in Brookings, South Dakota, where he compiled an impressive overall record of 410 wins to 240 losses, boasting a .631 winning percentage. He was honored with the Horizon League Coach of the Year title in 2018, 2019, and 2020. During his college playing days, Scott Nagy competed as a basketball player at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, where he currently holds school records for the most career games played and the most career assists (549), season (234), and game (15) assists. Nagy achieved another significant milestone in his coaching career on February 22, 2020, when he secured his 500th collegiate victory with an 81-74 overtime triumph over Cleveland State.
