Hello doctors, this is an introductory course about the basics of hepatology.

In this course you will learn the following items: -

- Basic anatomy and physical of the liver that correlates to a clinical significance, we will start will the surface anatomy of the liver, embryological origin, and its size. Then we will move to the blood supply of the liver, hepatocytes, and liver zones. Then we will talk about the physiology of the liver and its role in carbohydrates, lipids, and protein metabolism. Finally, we will discuss the investigations of any liver disease e.g. Liver Function tests, Pelvi-abdominal Ultrasound, and biopsy. (Indicaiton and contraindications) 

In the third lecture, we will discuss a very important topic in hepatology called: - Acute Liver Failure.

We will know its definition (According to the EASL guidelines), the pathogenesis of ALF, the manifestations, and the complications.

In the fourth lecture, we will learn how to diagnose a case of ALF a dnd the associated complications.

In the fifth lecture, we will learn how to manage a case of Acute liver failure according to the guidelines of ACG and EASL.
