This course would be ideal for nursing students or those who have an interest in pursuing this career pathway. We will cover important areas involved in nursing such as:
Roles and responsibilities, policies and procedures - the hierarchy of roles in the healthcare setting and the legal guideline and frameworks that will inform policies and procedures in your work setting, including 'duty of care'.
Safeguarding - understanding, recognising and reporting safeguarding issues.
Health and safety - identifying and reporting health and safety issues through risk assessment, and providing a safe and hygienic work environment.
Nutrition - providing nutritional care.
Biological functions - the different biological systems you will work with and related disorders of these systems.
Providing personal care - personal healthcare plan and providing personal care such as feeding.
Maintaining homeostasis (balance in the body) including checking temperature, blood pressure and glucose levels.
Communication - communication issues in the workplace and how to communicate effectively
By the end of this module you should have a good understanding of what the practice of nursing entails and make a more informed judgement whether you would like to pursue this career, or if you would like to gain more information on your field, this course would also be ideal for you.
