ACI 318 and IS 456 are two major codes of practice for the design and construction of reinforced concrete structures.
This course is mainly designed to enhance the knowledge of Codes and Standards. In this course, IS-456:2000 and
ACI-318-19 has been compared.
IS 456-2000 Plain and Reinforced Concrete - Code of Practice is an Indian Standard code of practice for general structural use of plain and reinforced concrete. The latest revision of this standard was done in the year 2000 and reaffirmed in 2021. This code uses the limit state design approach as well as the working stress design approach. However, the Code recommends the use of the limit state design approach.
ACI 318, or the Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary, is a comprehensive set of design and construction standards for structural concrete buildings and other structures. It was developed by the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and is widely accepted as the authoritative reference for structural concrete design in the United States.
This course helps you to understand the different clauses of the two countries' codes. Since codes and Standards are vast, as a beginner, finding the right clause and explanation from the code is a difficult task and that can be made easy by using this course.
As a structural Engineer, it is mandatory to understand all the guidelines given in Codes and Standards. The systematic arrangement of this course will help you in many ways to understand different clauses of Codes and Standards.
