Description

The Strategic Leadership Training course provides the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for full participation in strategic-level decision processes. The course is designed around three themes: business acumen, strategy formulation, and applying strategic concepts. It may be taken either as a stand-alone program or as part of an Advanced Strategic Decision Making certificate program.

The core responsibility of a Strategic Leader is to influence others towards an agreed vision and its successful implementation. This requires the ability to understand the context in which that vision is to be achieved, how it relates to other visions and goals of that organization or community, and how it must be designed to ensure its success. It also demands a deep understanding of human motivation, especially when people are being moved out of their comfort zones.

Strategic Leadership is more about inspiring groups within the organization to work together, often across traditional boundaries, in order to realize that common purpose. It's about being able to communicate effectively at every level of the organization and creating an organizational culture that enables people to recognize opportunities and make changes.

This course provides a comprehensive training program for those who aspire to play a leading role in shaping the future of their organization or community. It responds to the need for 21st century competencies that go beyond technical expertise and narrow functional knowledge. Participants learn to analyze situations, challenge assumptions and generate innovative options. They develop the skills needed to see the "big picture" by considering multiple points of view.
