What Is Life Crafting?
Life crafting involves intentionally shaping five key areas of your life over time to align with your vision. It's about knowing what you want, learning, and practicing skills systematically rather than relying on random trial and error. It's akin to making a masterpiece of your life, treating life as a craft to be honed and perfected.
Practicing Life-as-a-Craft
"Life-as-a-Craft" is a framework inspired by practices found in master workshops worldwide. It applies the principles of learning and practicing a defined craft, such as textile weaving or woodworking, to the art of living. It emphasizes treating life itself as a craft to be mastered, akin to any other trade or profession.
To embody "Life-as-a-Craft":
Dedicate yourself to learning the materials and activities involved.
Observe skilled practitioners, both journeymen and masters, in action.
Practice every process and utilize all tools with proficiency.
Continuously strive to enhance your performance daily through incremental improvements.
⫸ You'll discover how to systematically engage in "life crafting," following the time-tested approach used in learning and practicing any trade, occupation, or profession.
Managing Your Life Curriculum
Your life curriculum, what you choose to learn and practice throughout your lifetime, is shaped by both your family heritage and personal experiences and choices. Within the framework of Life-as-a-Craft, there are five elements to organize this learning:
Family & Personal Heritage – What we learn from the heritage and cultures we come from, how they shape us, and the legacy we leave to the next generation.
Family & Household Management – The knowledge we apply to manage the people, guidelines, and environment we live in. Running a successful household is like running a successful workshop.
Family & Personal Finance – The methods we learn to produce income and manage money to operate our household. How we integrate our personal financial style with our partner's style can make or break a household.
The Human Being – What we have learned and believe about the structure and functioning of our inner-self and outer-self: our mind, our body, our spirit, and our emotions.
Tools for Living – The devices we use to shape ourselves and others. The technologies, systems, and frameworks we use to craft our lives.
⫸ You'll be taught to categorize the life content you've already acquired and future learning into these five master categories, akin to how schools and workshops organize subjects for easier understanding and learning.
