Description

Iron Deficiency in pre menopausal women : Clinical considerations from an expert consensus

Menopausal transition is associated with significant changes in the hormonal parameters. Patients present with physical and psychological manifestations like sweat, tiredness and low self esteem.

Magnesium Disorders

Magnesium is the second most abundant intra-cellular cation and essential for stabilizing excitable cellular membranes and facilitating the movement of calcium, potassium and sodium into and out of cells.

GI Disorders

Since the lung is the primary organ involved in COVID-19 pneumonia, much of the initial response to the pathogen was focused on ways to prevent patients from developing severe respiratory symptoms. Lately, however, it has become increasingly evident that extra pulmonary clinical manifestations of COVID-19 can affect multiple organs including ocular, neurological, cardiovascular, renal, hepatic and gastrointestinal systems.

Anti-Diabetic Medication Adjustment

The type, dose, and timing of the anti-diabetic medications each patient takes have considerable influence on the potential risks involved in fasting. The risk of hypoglycemia is amplified when the patient takes several glucose-lowering agents with or without insulin. It may be essential to reduce the dosage of rapid acting insulin to prevent episodes of hypoglycemia during fasting. However, most medications such as Metformin, short acting insulin secretagogues such as Repaglinide and Nateglinide, DPP-4 inhibitors, SGLT2 inhibitors and newer sulfonylureas such as Gliclazide and Glimepiride have been studied and found to be safe for use in diabetics who are fasting and do not need drastic adjustments.
