Melodyne is the leading software tool for correcting pitch and timing of vocals and any other recorded instrument. It is used on most commercial releases to get a commercial grade lead vocal without sounding auto-tuned.
Your instructor, Nat Pike brings 12 years experience as a recording studio engineer and electronic music producer to teach you everything you need to know about Melodyne, one of his favourite plugins. In this course you will be shown how Melodyne can be used in a home studio/laptop producer scenario and also how it is used in a professional high end recording studio.
Melodyne is a versatile plugin that can be used to fix an out of tune guitar after it has been recorded and can also be used creativley to change the notes that have been recorded, make false harmonies and generate special effects such as the Daft Punk and T-Pain vocal.
This course can be completed by those on both PC and Mac
The instructor will be mainly be demonstrating how Melodyne works as a plugin in a Digital Audio Workstation.
Workflow and examples are shown in Ableton Live and Pro-Tools but you can use any D.A.W to follow along as the concepts work in any software that supports the plugin.
Mastering the Melodyne software can save a lot of time in the studio. Instead of having to record a lead vocal 10+ times to get the perfect take you can simply do 2-3 reasonable takes and fix small pitch and timing issues in post production.
