Description

Here you learn to draw the map of India mostly using straight lines and then fill in the States and remember them in place through a Mnemonic System. We have covered all the 28 states of India and the 8 Union Territories. We proceed Region by Region and show you all the states in each region i.e. we cover the 6 Eastern, 5 Northern, 5 Central, 5 Southern and 7 NorthEastern States of India.

We follow the same system of using straight lines (for the most part) to draw the outlines of the country and the states and then use short mnemonic sentences to remember the exact locations of a few states at a time, as we have done in my other map courses like Memorize World Map, Memorize US Canada Map, Memorize Latitude Longitude and Memorize China Map.

India has been divided into five regions in this course for easy reckoning. The North Eastern part has 7 states, also known as the seven sisters viz. Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur & Nagaland. In the northernmost part of the country, the area has recently been converted into two Union Territories (which are like states but with restricted administrative powers for the local governments), namely Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

The entire northern portion of India is partially covered by the mighty Himalayas, the tallest mountain range in the world and that makes for very many magnificent hill stations that are very very popular with the tourists. Two of the proper Himalayan states of India are Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal (also known as UttaraKhand or UK). We have two more Himalayan states in India, viz. Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh which too have absolutely mindblowing mountain locations with unforgettable views.

India is skirted by two large seas. The Arabian Sea on the left touches the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka & Kerala, going North to South and doubtless, there are innumerable sea-side towns which are a tourist’s delight. On the eastern sides, the states touching Bay of Bengal, are West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh & Tamil Nadu.

There are two beautiful island clusters on each side of India, namely Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the east in Bay of Bengal and the Lakshwadeep Islands on the west in the Arabian Sea. These two are Union Territories. The Capital of India, New Delhi, itself is another Union Territory, so is Chandigarh, a planned city near Delhi.

India is a tourist’ delight as there is everything you could possibly expect from one country: there is even a large desert tract in Rajasthan, the largest state in area on the western part of the country.

After taking this course, and practicing a bit, you ought to be able to locate all the states and union territories of India on your own. I welcome you to take the course.
