Edgar Allan Poe has driven our national obsession with tales of chaos and darkness by writing unique stories and poems and the first detective story, The Murders in the Rue Morgue. He has been called the most influential author ever, yet he was thrust out of the charmed circle of life, only to earn the luxury of sorrow as he drank from the cup of consolation.
My true crime story is a psychological thriller based on Poe’s story titled "The Mystery of Marie Rogêt," that shows how his detective character Chevalier Dupin worked. Have you ever wondered if you could solve a murder mystery the way Edgar Allan Poe did, by fusing cold, hard analysis with an awareness of mystical forces?
We will encourage stydents to develop a character and write a mystery.
