In this module you are introduced to the foundational FYT Method for safe yoga practice entitled: BAMA (Breath, Awareness, MoStility and Alignment. You also are instructed in the application of YAPS (Yoga Asana Practice Screen) a 5-15 minute screening tool to assess the yoga student’s capacities to participate in a yoga practice.
You will learn:
• How to incorporate the principles of BAMA into the yoga practice to keep your student safe and efficient in addressing movement and movement impairments.
• To quickly assess general core stability and flexibility of a prospective yoga student
• To provide the yoga student with recommendations for modifications to their asanas with the use of appropriate props or pose variations to accommodate any musculoskeletal limitations.
• To provide recommendations for specific asanas to address any limitations in flexibility or core strength
• To give the student a “take home” chart of recommendations so they can incorporate them easily into a home practice or practice in another setting
This Module can be taken as a stand alone course or as a part of the 5 modules in the Yoga Corrective Exercise Specialist Program with FitYogaTherapy.
