This course lays a foundation for all experience levels to Offshore Oil & Gas Platform Structures used in the Oil & Gas industry.
The aim of this course , is to expand the understanding of offshore structural engineers of the Concepts of Offshore Oil & Gas Platforms. It can also help other discipline engineers to better understand the Offshore Structures discipline and help them interface better with this discipline on Offshore Structural Projects.
Some of the topics covered are
- Introduction to types and history of offshore structures
- Material Selection for Offshore Platforms
- Arrangement of members of an offshore platform
- Fabrication of Offshore Structures
- Cathodic Protection systems
- Repair of Offshore Platforms
- Decommissioning of Offshore Platforms
The arrangement of chapters is based on the various stages in the lifecycle of an Offshore Structures project.
The free preview includes the first two of the above mentioned topics.
Please note that this course does not delve into explanation of other types of offshore structures such as TLPs, Concrete Gravity structures, FPSO's etc. It's main focus is on presneting and explaing Fixed Offshore Platforms most of which are not used in Deep Water applications. However, in coming weeks we will be adding more content on topics such as Bridge structures, Flare structures. Concepts of topsides engineering etc. FEED, Impact / collision calculations, Vortex Induced Vibrations, Pile Capacity calculations etc.
The coursework tries to focus more on visual clues through illustrations and diagrams to help your understanding and does not go very deep into mathematical formulations.
We wish you the best of learning experience on this course.
Take Care and happy learning.
