Following in the Van Gogh’s footsteps, you will acquire knowledge of how to create harmony both by strengthening the applied colours’ saturation and by arranging them in their complementary and simultaneous contrasts. Additionally, we will pay attention to painting colour, form and pattern instead of precise depiction of tonal changes. Using variety of acrylic paints , bristle brushes and palette knives, you will learn how to successfully paint various subjects in the style of the great Post-Impressionist Dutch Master Vincent Van Gogh; like the master, we will learn to paint what we feel instead of what we see in front of us. At the end of this course, you will be asked to complete minimum three paintings and some painterly exercises before exploring Van Gogh’s style in your own art creations. You will be also encouraged to complete a number of copies of his paintings to deepen your practical knowledge of the stylistic and technical challenges Van Gogh technique is about.
