Painting in Gouache - a complete guide

I love the ease and simplicity of painting in gouache, and in this course I want to share some of what I have learned about this medium with you. I want you to be inspired about painting in gouache, because I think you will love it! I will show you the advantages that it has over watercolors and the ways it can be used to create amazing pictures.

Each of the 10 lessons has a painting project in it, and you can watch me painting a small gouache picture in real time over a 15-20 minute period. You will see every brushstroke, along with my mixing palette, and I'll explain what is happening as we go along. If you like you can paint along with me (you can pause the video whenever you need to), or watch the video first and then paint later.  I also provide the original photo and the finished painting for you to download to use as a reference.

You will learn how to use gouache in a way similar to watercolor and also in a way that exploits it's opaque qualities. I will also show you ways of combining the two effects in one painting. You will also learn how to create textures and marks that bring your paintings alive, how to blend colors together and how to make changes during the painting process.
