Description

Have you ever dreamt of mastering the art of drawing pet portraits?

Imagine being able to create stunning greytone portraits that exceed your wildest expectations.

Through this course, you'll acquire the techniques and expertise necessary to achieve just that.

Utilising Pastel Pencils

Having garnered over 30 years of experience, I've discovered that Pastel Pencils are unequivocally the most accessible artistic medium to grasp and develop proficiency in.

Upon completing this course, not only will you produce 2 remarkable paintings, but you'll also possess the skills to craft your own captivating pet portraits.

Essential Materials

You'll only need four pencils to achieve these mesmerizing effects. Feel free to use colors that suit you; here are the ones I recommend:

Faber-Castell PITT Pastel Pencils:

  • 101 White

  • 273 Warm Grey IV

  • 175 Dark Sepia

  • 199 Black

Pastel Paper

Opt for a Light Grey Pastelmat sheet approximately the size of A4 (or US Letter). This paper boasts a textured surface akin to fine sandpaper, perfect for pastel pencil work. If unavailable, consider using UART 800 Grade Paper as a viable alternative.

Outline Drawing

I provide you with an outline drawing for each portrait, eliminating the need for freehand drawing. Use a graphite transfer sheet like tracedown to transfer the outline onto your paper, especially if it's light grey. This ensures the lines are visible.

Step-by-Step Guidance

I'll guide you meticulously through each stage via video instruction, unveiling the techniques behind crafting exquisite pet portraits. You'll create images that you'll proudly display, discovering the astonishing effects achievable with just a few pencils.
