كورس الكيمياء الحيوية الإكلينيكية والتحاليل الطبية

What You Will Learn!

  • The concept of biochemical reports
  • How to identify specific biomarkers for each case
  • How to interpret biochemical reports efficiently
  • How to perform differentialdiagnosis regarding report results

Description

  • In this course we will include the clinical significance for most commonly known lab tests including:

1. Biological Fluids lab tests: ascites, pleural effusion (Hydrothorax, Hemothorax & Chylothorax), CSF (Bacterial or Hemorrhagic), Amniotic fluid & Intra-articular fluid for rheumatoid arthritis.

2. Diabetic complications & lab tests for good prognosis: this includes how to perform differential diagnosis between DKA & HHS (Hyperglycemic Hyperosmolar state)

3. Liver Function tests: ALT, AST, ALP & GGT - How to interpret results and to reach a conclusive diagnosis whether the condition is a hepatocellular injury, Post-hepatic (Obstructive jaundice) or Pre-hepatic.

4. Pancreatic function tests: Amylase & Lipases, their significance in pancreatic function tests & to determine whether the condition is acute or chronic pancreatitis - Chronic pancreatitis specific lab tests (fecal elastase).

5. Renal Function tests: starting from the GFR principle ending with most commonly used tests Urea, Creatinine & Cystatin-C (The most efficient one).

6. Autoimmune Diseases: General autoimmune diseases principle, common autoimmune diseases including the genetic & environmental factor for each one. Such included diseases in this chapter: Celiac disease, Rheumatoid arthritis & Systemic Lupus Erythrematousus.

7. Bleeding Disorders: normal coagulation physiological mechanism & abnormal conditions like hereditary or pathologic clotting factors deficiency. Essential tests for bleeding tendency monitoring; PT, aPTT & INR.

8. Hormones: this topic includes various hormones types & the general principle for tyrosine kinase surface receptors & intracellular receptors (corticosteroids) - Some Hormonal interaction examples.

9. Tumor Markers: the general principle for cancer pathogenesis, oncogenes & P53 mutations. Common tumor markers which may be tissue specific or cancer (tumor specific)

10. Revision Clinical Cases with their interpretation regarding previously illustrated topics.

11. Hematology Chapter & Electrolyte Imbalance: This chapter will include the following points:-

  • RBCs Section: anemia & polycythemia common causes, report interpretation for anemia differential diagnosis

  • WBCs Section: Leukemia & various types based on report interpretation and age (ALL & AML)

  • Electrolyte Imbalance Section: Acidosis & Alkalosis, how to determine whether the cause is respiratory or metabolic & the consequetive management approach.
