Description

This is an introductory course that will provide the learner with a basic understanding of how to develop and construct a Phased Project. This course was developed by a Construction Manager who has been working in the Design and Construction Industries for over 30 years. His personal experiences helped demonstrate how to effectively develop and construct a Phased Project.

The course is divided into several sections which include an Introduction to Phased Projects, identify some Advantages and Disadvantages, identify several different Types of Phased Projects including a Relocation, Expansion with no Renovation, and Expansion with Relocation, and more Complex Phased Projects including Occupied Renovation with Relocation, Occupied Renovation with no Relocation, Full Floor with Relocation, and Full Floor with No Relocation.

The course will also review Important Factors to Consider such as Number of Phases, Occupied vs Unoccupied, Using a Swing Space, Displacement, Schedule Impacts, Sequencing of the Phases, Adjacent Work, Temporary Work, Nature of the Work, Means of Egress Changes, Compartmentation, MEP Systems, Fire Alarm Impairments, Fire Protection Impairments, Logistics, Security, and Material Escalations. It will also review Important Safety Concerns to Consider such as Occupants, Visitors, Construction Workers, Means of Egress, Accessibility, Safety Through Design, Hazards, and Buffer Zones, Logistic issues to consider, and review some Lessons Learned from previous projects.
