Description

A Physician Assistant (PA) is a healthcare professional who works as part of a team with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals. They perform medical duties and procedures, diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, prescribe medication, and provide patient education. They are licensed to practice medicine and are able to diagnose and treat patients independently, although they usually work under the supervision of a licensed physician.

A physician assistant (US) or physician associate (UK) is a healthcare professional who practices medicine as a part of a healthcare team with supervising physicians and other providers.

In the United States, a graduate from an accredited PA program must pass the NCCPA-administered Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) before becoming a PA-C; this certification is required for licensure in all states. The content of the exam is covered in the PANCE BLUEPRINT. In addition, a PA must log 100 Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours and reregister his or her certificate with the NCCPA every two years. Every ten years (formerly six years), a PA must also recertify by successfully completing the Physician Assistant National Recertifying Exam (PANRE).

Physician Assistants are people who work under a Physician or independently to provide healthcare services. They are medically trained to practice in distinct medical specialities and medical settings to ensure patients’ good health and improve treatment and medications provided to them. Their responsibilities include diagnosis of disease and giving treatment and medications to patients either in collaboration with a physician or independently. In the case of collaboration, they are supervised by the physician for providing healthcare facilities.
