Please read this description very carefully. It tells you what this course is designed for and what it is not designed for!
This Udemy course was re-designed from an accredited UK course and would carry the same theory weighting once completed.
This course is set at level 3, (Professional/A level standard in the UK) for approximately 5 CPD points = to 50 hours of study.
This course contains underpinning theory and some practical tasks which the learner will be directed to undertake. They may find it useful to obtain a practice arm and some basic equipment in order to undertake the practicals along with the instructional videos. Practice makes perfect...
This course is the theory part of an accredited course. Graduates wishing to pursue a career in this field will need to complete practical training and formal assessment also according to the licensing or qualification requirements of this profession in their country.
In the UK for example it is required in the NHS that a minimum of 10 successful, and witnessed blood draws are required before the practitioner is allowed to undertake this procedure on their own without supervision. This may be different where you are. You may be able to get a doctor, nurse or other health care professional with phlebotomy experience to witness these blood draws to build your portfolio of practical evidence to show potential employers.
This course is designed for people who wish to enter into the field of taking blood for medical purposes, and therefore they will learn about all the bottles, colors, and reagents for the different types of blood tests requested by medical staff. Graduates are trained to and may work independently, or in some countries may need to work under the supervision of a licensed health professional.
This course covers the theory and practical aspects of undertaking the phlebotomy process from start to finish in a safe and competent manner as a professional.
Therefore the graduate could either seek employment working with or for a licensed practitioner who needed an assistant to perform this particular procedure to a high standard without any supervision. Or you could be self-employed, contracted, or employed by someone to undertake this specialist role on their behalf either on-site at their clinic or domiciliary (home) visits.
This course is an ideal starting point for those wishing to undertake further training in Platelet Rich Plasma / Vampire Facials etc where they are allowed to perform these treatments independently or under the direct supervision of a licensed professional as may be legally required. There is a full course available in Phlebotomy and PRP (Vampire Facials) that comes with a non-medical phlebotomy course already on.
