Description

Welcome!

My name is Carl Binger LMHC and welcome to Progressing from Darkness: Helping the Christian through Depression. I want to thank you for joining me on this journey!

This project was such a joy to complete, and I believe this will help many people out there. I know people will get the help and encouragement I so desperately needed in when I was going through these times. If you could, grab a pen and paper or journal and write with me as I ask questions throughout this series, that would be fantastic.

I ask these questions to help you process and become self-aware of your own, or someone you may know, struggles with depression.

Ultimately, I hope that the answer to these questions are things you can share with your family, friends, and ultimately, your therapist and/or doctor.

What you can expect to find throughout this series:

  • Questions (or journal prompts) to go along with some video segments.

  • Deeper biblical breakdowns and examples of depression and dark times in Scripture.

  • Brief assessments that you can take and share with your family and therapist.

  • Worksheets and activities that I have created to help guide your learning and understanding of depression.

What you can expect to learn throughout this series:

Understand the basics of depression as it relates to our mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.

Develop the willingness to more vulnerable and transparent with self and others.

Develop empathy for self and others as we explore our own deep depression.

Understand the depths of Jesus' suffering and love so that we can love others better.

Lessons that will be covered:

Lesson 1: Breaking the Stigma of Depression

Lesson 2: Mental and Physical Aspects

Lesson 3: Spiritual Aspect

Again, thank you for joining me on this journey. I truly hope I can be a light to your depression.

Bonuse material:

In this course I cover an example of how Jesus Christ counseled two men. Most of us have always heard of how Jesus is a great teacher, preacher, and healer, but rarely do we hear being taught as a Wonderful Counselor. In this lesson my goal is to highlight this. In this lesson we will explore the passage in Luke 24:13-32. Included in this lesson is a Readers Guide from my book The Progressive Darkness: For the Christian Losing Hope in Depression. Isaiah 9:6 states "For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." As we can see here, Jesus is a Wonderful Counselor! We also read in John 14:26:  "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."  We will dive into this more in the lesson. I truly hope and pray that this lesson will be a blessing to the learners. I believe it will be.

Also, included in this series will be an eBook version of my book The Progressive Darkness: For the Christian Losing Hope in Depression.

Who Should Attend!
