Description

This course is for Revit users who wants to learn how to design lightning protection system in Revit according to IEC/EN/BS/DIN 62305-1/3 standard.

You will learn how to create Revit families for: vertical rod air termination system with its protective volume according to different LPL (lightning protection level ).

You will learn the fundamentals of the standard EN 62305 -1/3, mechanism of lightning discharge and understand the concept of lightning design using Protection Angle Method and make the simulation in Revit using intelligent families.

Training materials: Revit families and project.

This course is life time access, you can come back and watch the course any time you want.

According to IEC 62305 the probability of structure penetration by a lightning current is considerably decreased by the presence of a properly designed air-termination system/(s).

Air-termination system can be composed of any combination of the following elements:

- rods (including free-standing masts);

- catenary wires;

- meshed conductors.

In this course the following items will be explained in order to design the air termination system.

Introduction.

Phenomenology of lightning. Storm clouds. Lightning discharge.

Types of flashes - characteristic.

Negative downward lightning. Parameters.

Lightning protection levels.

Air-termination system.

Protection Angle Method.

Revit families for Protection Angle Method.

Interpolation.

Protection angle corresponding to the class of LPS.

Revit family_1.

Revit family_2.

Who Should Attend!

  • Revit users interested of lightning protection design.
  • MEP Consultants.
  • Engineers.
