What is the purpose of Psychology?

The perspective of psychology is on how we identify the functioning of the mind and why we behave in different ways. Psychology is a science, which is being researched and its components are being used to assess these factors related to the point of view of the person.

We can start to analyse the areas Psychologists focus on when trying to assess people. This will include: -

· The body

· The mind

· Personality

· Gender

· Social Skills

· Relationship skills

We will start by analysing how the body would be used to assess psychological compounds. The body will encompass its brains; hearts; hormones; genes and motion. The mind includes consciousness, sensations and perceptions, including: -

· Vision

· Hearing

· Taste

· Smell

· Touch

· Balance

· Pain

Thinking, which manages attention, memory, forming concepts, problem-solving, deciding & intelligence.

Communicating, including verbal and non-verbal expressions, such as body language, gestures, speech and language, motivations as well as emotions.

Personality has two main identifications. These include the extrovert vs introvert. When we analyse further there are the Type A and Type B personalities.

Gender and sexuality can be analysed in such a way that you will understand how they can incorporate into psychology. It is important to consider equality and diversity, in terms of how we accept and embrace these forms of identity. Social skills and relationship skills are important in psychology. We are always trying to find ways to resolve and build on issues in our social relationships. The way we interact is helpful and healthy for your psychological profile. Engaging with people helps with stress management and in turn, will help with your psychological well-being.

However, it is important to address any shortfalls in a relationship, where it is a give-and-take process.

It is important to be able to deal with your surrounding environment. This will include: -

Learning - the ability to learn from the environment

Context – the ability to grow and develop in response to the environment
