Leadership
Basically, a leader is someone with followers. You can get followers by force, paying them a lot, trickery or by being the person others want to follow. This course will help you become an effective and inspiring leader.
You will learn best practices from Lean manufacturing, organizational behavior, healthcare, aviation, sports, psychology and the military. These lessons can be applied in any business setting and at every level of influence and responsibility.
This course is for you if:
You want to be a "true" leader rather than one in name only
Want to have a positive impact on others
Want to have a greater appreciation for and accountability to those who follow you
Wish to unleash the leadership potential of those you lead
And you will enjoy these course outcomes:
You will lead emotionally engaged employees
Your team will make the best possible decisions
All employees are on high-performing teams
Employees take responsibility for processes and outcomes
This course is based on the leadership and consulting experience of Rudy Williams, Ph.D. and me, coauthors of Mistake-Proofing Leadership. Combined, Rudy and I had 80 years of leadership experience. Rudy's doctorate was in organizational development and mine is in psychology. Much of the material in this course was taken from our leadership book.
At the very least, this course will help you speak up when you should. At best, this course will unleash your finest leadership.
What makes this course different? As an expert in human behavior, I help business leaders and employees interact with each other and with customers in the most productive ways, mostly using tools I have created over the past 50 years. This course approaches leadership from a psychological perspective rather than a business one. By valuing people needs first, employees are motivated to help the business succeed. It's like putting the horse in front of the cart and not the other way around. By the end of this course, you will be able to lead others with well-developed soft skills.
Rock Solid Business Soft Skills
My set of LEADERSHIP SKILLS courses is ideal if you want to significantly improve your soft skills as a leader, manager or employee. Each course presents a specific topic; you’ll dive deeply into the content and emerge with newly acquired ideas and rock-solid soft skills. Many of the ideas and skills are unique to this set of courses.
Business is a balancing act of controlling and enabling others. As a leader/manager, you must be in charge, but also encourage the best from every worker. As you know, this isn’t easy. Make a mistake or two and everyone suffers. Rock solid skills have clear steps, easily followed and measured. And if you aspire to leadership, these skills will propel you upward.
My courses follow that old saying, "if you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him to fish, you feed him for a lifetime." I teach both skills and concepts. If you want both training and an education, this is the place, tools and ideas. Each course provides ideas to explore and skills to try out. You choose the topic and in about three hours or less, you’ll acquire rock solid soft skills enabling you to support and inspire your employees. Double asterisks (**) around a section or lecture denotes core material.
