Scratch coding for kids - Optical illusion & pattern effects

What You Will Learn!

  • How to code animated and interactive optical illusions and pattern effects
  • How to use sprites, cloning and coded animation techniques to produce complex visual effects
  • How to apply math to create smooth animations that accelerate, rotate and change in size and intensity
  • How to experiment with coding techniques to produce your own illusions and effects

Description

Help your child learn essential knowledge and skills for coding optical illusions, pattern effects and nature simulations, then use what you have learnt to create your own games.

This course is designed for parents of 8-14 year olds who want to re-direct their child's natural enthusiasm for playing games, into creating and coding games. By the end of the course your child will have built knowledge and skills which will give them an enormous head start at school.

Students will learn coding techniques for creating simple and complex optical effects and pattern effects. Techniques learnt are tranferrable to a wide range of coding scenarios.

The course includes template games for each lesson with sprites and images ready to go. Simply download them, start the lessons and follow the step-by-step instructions. The games increase in coding complexity as the lessons progress. Students learn primary methods and skills first, and then build expertise that will help them create their own games.

Our instructor is a qualified and experienced teacher who speaks clearly and precisely, leading the learner through the entire coding processes. Each step is explained and demonstrated and there is plenty of opportunity for students to experiment with the code for themselves.

Your child will build confidence with Scratch, and the processes of object-orientated coding, acquire powerful and transferrable coding skills, and improve their creative, math and computational thinking abilities.

Who Should Attend!

  • Parents who want to transform their children from players of games into creators
  • Parents who want to give their children a head start in computer studies at school, further and higher eduction, and in the workplace
  • Anyone who plays games and would like to learn how to create their own
  • Coders who want to master coded animations and extend their coding skill set
