In this Bey Atelier in Screenwriting, students will learn how to write a professional screenplay from scratch with discipline and knowledge. This course provides students with the necessary tools to write a screenplay by studying and analyzing scenes from movies and short films.
Baudilio Perez, the course instructor, has gathered his knowledge from the best film schools in Spain (ESCAC) and his professional experience in writing and directing films.
The course covers the history of the film script, starting from the moment when cinema industrialization began. Students will learn the classic structure of a film script and its relationship with the dramatic arc of a character.
The influence of Greek tragedy on the histories of the 20th and 21st centuries is also discussed, along with the process developed over generations.
Students will learn the general rules of writing and the fundamentals of the story, supported by Robert McKee's theory. They will also learn how to create each of the three acts of the classic structure of a screenplay with examples on the screen.
The course will cover creating a synopsis from a small idea by learning the concepts of Tagline, Logline, and Storyline. Additionally, students will learn the professional narrative strategies behind film writing, such as Anticipatory signs, Ellipsis, and Dramatic irony.
The main types of plots used in creating a screenplay and the theory of the 20 subplots that can be developed with a film script are also taught.
Furthermore, the course will provide a method developed by the instructor to write hundreds of stories and develop them with a professional production team. By taking this course, students will have the skills to write a movie script with confidence.
