Description

The Future of Work is a very common topic of discussion in business. The media headlines that 47% of all jobs will be destroyed by automation, but this is neither the truth, nor the whole story. The future is much more interesting! This short course will use a simple but powerful framework published in the MIT Sloan business school Management Review journal to teach you how to understand what factors impact whether a particular type of job is going to be impacted by artificial intelligence, automation and robotics, and why this is the case. By the end of the course you will be able to take almost any type of work and apply the Future of Work framework to understand how that work will be impacted. You will learn why a pharmacist is particularly at risk for automation, but an accountant is going to be necessary despite much of what they do being very easy to automate. The four quadrants of the 2x2 matrix are explained with a use case for each, which makes the future of work understandable in way that anyone can use. If you’re changing careers, or looking at where to move your career to next at your present company, this Future of Work course will be invaluable.
