Description

Being able to toilet train a child or person independently can be life changing. It improves their quality of life, reduces their family's burden, as well as allows them more independence.

This course will introduce you to the principles of toileting independence. You will learn about the physical and mental readiness necessary for toileting success, and how to identify which method is most suitable for the person you are supporting.

With tried and tested methods, you'll be able to support a child or person with being able to go to the toilet independently, and be able to celebrate the success they have.

You will get access to visuals, toilet readiness checklists, reward charts and more to support you with the path to toileting independence.

With this course you will be ready for any challenges that may come your way - like constipation, refusal to go to the toilet, bottom wiping, and sensory issues - so you can problem solve them effectively.

We also look at how to coach the person you are supporting utilising Occupational Therapy methods and practices.

Carey and Heidi are both Occupational Therapists who have over 25 years of collective experience supporting children and adults to achieve independence in their everyday life. They specialised working with people with a disability and their families to achieve the best outcome possible for their circumstances. They are now using their experience to support others with the knowledge and practice they have gleaned in these easy to understand courses.
