This course is structured into six sections with 17 lectures, each covering a specific topic related to water resources.
The sections are as follows:
Section 1: Basic Concepts of Water Resources
In this section, you will know about the author, course objectives and components.
You will identify of water distribution on Earth, you will know water resources definition, conventional and non-conventional water resources.
You will also know how to estimate the water quantity, how to measure the stream velocity and discharge.
Section 2: Storm Flood
In this section, you will identify of IDF curve and floods and their characteristics. You will know how to design of storms floods and how to forecast the flood. You will also identify of flood control alternatives.
Section 3: River – Reservoir Systems Modelling
In this section, you will learn about river basin modelling. You will know watershed definition and its physical characteristics.
You will also learn about “Unit Hydrograph” and how to deduce it.
Section 4: River – Reservoir intakes and outlets
In this section, you will learn about outlets classification and sluiceway. You will know how to design irrigation outlets.
You will learn about reservoir intakes and the difference between simple submerged intakes and intake towers.
You will learn about intake design for sediment control and how to calculate the sediment concentration at a specified height.
You will also learn about reservoir design and how to analyse the gravity dams.
Section 5: Water Resources Management and Economics
In this section you will Learn about groundwater concepts and hydraulic properties of groundwater. You will know how to manage the groundwater and the surface water.
You will also learn about water resource economics.
Section 6: Water Quality Management 17
In this section you will know water quality criteria. You will Identify of water pollution causes and how to control of water pollution.
You will also know the guidelines for assessing the suitability of water for irrigation purposes.
