Thank you much, to enroll this classroom, and thank you much to support me and my Art.
Here you'll find some resources connected to that classroom, some detailed images, a reference images, and a recap of the materials and the class steps.
Hello Artists, how are you ?! it's fantastic to see you again in this new class :)
Welcome to this classroom. This time, I will painting a composition of two birds (swallow), with a dynamic sky background.
I will show this time, a watercolor painting with a deep color contrast between the main subject vs the background, like "black" (actually payne's gray) and yellow-orange and white, over a blue/teal sky background.
I will also, show the best way to start a painting like this, to start with the right step to build the final painting result, and I mean like the classical question:
"should i start from main subjects ? or the first step should be the sky background ?"
I hope you will enjoy this class, and as usual, please let me know if you liked it, or if you need further details.
Painting Project: Recap and Steps
Today I am really happy to show you how I realized this simple beautiful painting of those 2 swallow, in a diagonal composition, using some color contrast between the warm and dark main subject vs the light cold sky background.
This painting, I think is suitable for any level, so don't be afraid if you are beginner, even if you think is for an intermediate or advanced level. Maybe the first result, if you are beginner, will not be great, but remember I always improve my self and learn especially through my errors.
Is NOT a problem make some errors or mistake, actually is fundamental !
I think is quite interesting the final result, mixing the dynamic composition of the two birds flying free in the sky, increase by the contrast between the complementary colors.
As usual I will show you the full entire process and this would be pretty much everything in real time, so not in speed painting. You won't miss any step ;)
I will leave you all details in the class project section, and I want to tell you, please to contact me for any details, if you need more information about this.
Last but not least, I want to tell you again I usually don't like to upload the reference image because I prefer you choose your own image, and try to paint what you like, so not just copy me.
However, of course I will send you the image I used to make this painting, because is part of the materials and resources of this classroom, and also because maybe you will feel more confident to paint exactly the same image I did in this artwork.
In my honest opinion, the focus is to understand the workflow, the painting method, and the way to create something interesting, so please do not focus you attention on the reference image of the main subject, because I think is just an extra detail.
Swallow Reference Images I used.
Finally this is a recap of all the watercolor techniques I used on this painting, and I tried to make it easy.
Technical pencil (or watercolor pencil) sketch
ink drawing
wet on wet
wet on dry
glazing
And this is a recap of the steps to make this painting:
Pencil sketch of the main subject and the composition, in case you have some Watercolor Pencils, will be great because the tace will melt with water
Painting the sky background (wet on wet technique)
Painting the main subjects (wet on dry technique)
Second step on the main subjects (wet on dry technique)
Painting details on the main subjects
Here is a recap of the materials I used:
Watercolor paper 100% cotton, cold pressed, rough texture
Technical Pencil or Watercolor Pencil
Watercolor Brushes, different size and shapes (rounded and pointed, for the main subject, and pointed or flat for the sky)
Colors: Payne's Grey, bright yellow, orange, red, dark red for the birds and light blue and teal for the sky (any brand call the colors in different way, so I can't tell you the right color, because for example someone can call the yellow "golden yellow" and someone else could call that color "cadmium yellow"
I really hope you will enjoy this kind of painting and please, remember: never stop practice.
Thank you again to follow me and support my art and see you in the next project
