Description

Learn From A Compositing Expert.
As a Senior Compositor currently working in the VFX industry, I have over fourteen years' experience working with node-based compositing software like Nuke. Past projects of mine include hit TV series like The 100, The Magicians, Fear the Walking Dead, and Project Blue Book, as well as popular films such as The Irishman, 300: Rise of an Empire, The Amazing Spider-Man, Twilight, Immortals, and Sucker Punch. Over the years, I've learned how simple strategies like keeping an organized Nuke script and using shortcuts can save time and headaches. It's my goal to share my knowledge in a way that's both easy to understand and fun to watch.

Why "Work Smart?"
If you want to work in a professional visual effects studio, the harsh reality is that artists are constantly pressured to create beautiful movie magic on ever-tighter deadlines and ever-smaller budgets. This means we must learn to work smarter, not harder. In this course, I’ll present ideas and shortcuts using the world-class compositing software, Foundry's Nuke, to help you get a professional-quality shot done on time, every time.

In this first episode of my Work Smart series, we'll learn foundation-level Nuke skills that will set you up for success as a visual effects Compositor:

-A brief history of Nuke
-How to optimize your workspace
-Understanding channels
-The math behind the Merge node
-Rotoscope techniques
-How to check your work and render a quality roto matte that's free of errors
-A split-screen project that will apply all the skills we've learned

This is course is beginner-friendly. Maybe you are an independent creator interested in learning how to use Nuke, or you are a digital arts college student seeking deeper knowledge, or maybe a junior-to-intermediate VFX artist looking to sharpen your skills. If you are already a highly-experienced Nuke user, stay tuned for future courses!
