In this course you will learn how to build a REST API test automation framework from scratch. This course will skip the theory and focus on a hands-on experience to help you design and implement a scalable and robust solution.
You will be able to:
Exercise CRUD operations using Python's request library.
Create and run automated scenarios using PyTest.
Encapsulate functionality using PyTest Fixtures to reduce your code footprint.
Follow best practices to design and implement a scalable and robust framework.
Dockerize your framework to make it easily distributable.
This course was created under a Unix-based environment (MacOS). If you are planning to use other operating systems (i.e. Windows) please don't forget to adapt your code/paths/installations to accommodate to your specific needs. At this time, this course does not support instructions on how to run it on Windows.
Software Developer Engineers in Test (a.k.a SDET) are in demand. SDETs are software developers working within the Quality Assurance team. They are the ones responsible for developing tools to ease the implementation, tracking and execution of automated scenarios. These scenarios can be part of the Front-End (UI) or Backend (REST API, GraphQL, SQL, DBs, Data, etc...) automation efforts. Currently, there is a shortage of SDETs specializing in Backend automation. Most of them spend their time on Front-End automation using technologies such as Selenium, WebDriver or Cypress. That was the main motivation to design and teach this course. We want you to learn the skills and technologies required for a successful career as a Backend (REST API) SDET.
Happy Testing!!!
