What is the course like?

In the Speaking sections you have 6 interactive classes in video format. The first class introduces the exam part with a quiz and an overview. The following classes cover each speaking task one by one using the PASS method. We provide you with strategies, tips and techniques to manage each task and we engage you in the process to maximise your learning. You can watch the classes when you want, pausing them to carry out the tasks and consolidate your learning.

There is also extensive, downloadable resource material to take away and practise further, including exam questions for Part 3 of the Speaking Paper. There are many links provided in this material to help you find free web resources to practise all the speaking tasks.

Finally there is a test. This test is designed to assess your learning during the course and to help you find your weaknesses and redirect you to parts of the course where you can improve those aspects.

My aim is that you go into your exam with confidence and in a positive frame of mind, secure in the knowledge that you have learned the most effective tools and techniques to demonstrate your ability. Please allow me to accompany you on your learning journey.

What about the PASS method? Would you like to know more?

PASS is an acronym which stands for Process, Awareness, Strategies and Skills. These elements frame your B2 First learning experience. Your PASS course has been developed by expert teachers and trainers who have been preparing candidates for this exam for many years. Our objective is to help you get the best score possible in the exam, but we also emphasise engagement in the process. Why?

Firstly, and most importantly, if you are engaged and involved in your learning you will learn more. This means our objective will be reached more easily and you will have better prospects for the future.

Secondly, life is too short to do things because you have to and not because you enjoy them. We will show you how to integrate your exam preparation into your daily life, taking advantage of the wealth of opportunities we have these days to prepare and practise. The more you enjoy it the better the result will be.

Thirdly, we want you to see that the exam is your friend. It offers you a chance to develop your skills and improve. The examiners do not want to fail you. They want you to get the best score possible according to your abilities. Doing an exam to get a certificate is about getting a short-term result, PASS is about a process that achieves the short-term result, but also builds a language learning and exam preparation skill set for the long-term.

The city in the course image is Dublin!
