Once organization is able to achieve AS 9100 certification it is in position to achieve quality expectations of any other industry sector. Auditors will focus on concept understanding by organization's personnel. AS 9100 is also known as AQMS (Aerospace Quality Management System). You may refer AS 9100D standard as well as other reference standards published by IAQG for proper implementation. MRO organizations shall follow AS 9110 standard and distributors shall follow AS 9120 standard. But understanding AS 9100 will help candidates to understand AS 9110 and/or AS 9120 as well. Please note basic expectations from AS 9100 certified (or those who want to be certified) organizations is ability to maintain precision and accuracy in their products with respect to quality requirements. To achieve this supporting tool like First Article Inspection is provided. Configuration management helps to establish strong traceability throughout life of product (expected product life minimum 40-50 years) upto component level. Foreign object detection helps avoiding presence of any unwanted element at any stage of production. Obsolescence management helps managing obsolete / non-usable products / materials.
