Materials Science for Robotics

What You Will Learn!

  • Materials science integration with robotics
  • Smart materials, nanotechnology
  • Soft robotics
  • A new approach to robotics

Description

This course is planned for those who are interested in robotics developments. It is a narration of how to build better robots also it is the union of two different fields. In this lecture I have given information about how better materials can be used to build better robots. We can't think of any technology without thinking about materials.  In each technology, whatever we think of we have to optimize, select and manipulate materials.

Robotics is also a field that will be more and more important in the next centuries. While our world is being automated all over, it is beneficial for anyone to learn more about robotics. I believe, building better robots will be managed by it's integration of material science. In this course I have talked about Smart Materials, Nano robotics, Micro robotics and Soft Robotics which are subjects that require the most integration with Materials Science.

With the help of this subjects that I just mentioned we can easily say that our approach and perception of robotics will change drastically. Robots are not just metallic, factory products anymore. We will have them in our home. Even make them be available to assist elderly and disabled people. We need to have robots that are more approachable and more compliant with everyday human life. So, as I said, because of this reasons we need to build better robots.
