This section of the course will provide an introduction to Afrofuturism and explore why it matters. We will define Afrofuturism and examine its origins and development over time. We will also explore the significance of Afrofuturism in shaping cultural identity and resisting dominant narratives.

Part 2 - How does Afrofuturism work? Who does it represent?
In this section of the course, we will explore how Afrofuturism works and who it represents. We will examine the role of speculative thought and cultural history in Afrofuturism, as well as the importance of representation and diversity. We will also explore the ways in which Afrofuturism intersects with issues of race, gender, and technology.

In this section of the course, we will explore the history of Afrofuturism through a timeline of the movement. We will examine key moments and figures in the development of Afrofuturism, as well as the impact of Afrofuturism on various cultural forms, including literature, film, music, and art.

By the end of this course, students will have gained an understanding of what Afrofuturism is, how it works, and its significance in shaping cultural identity and resisting dominant narratives. Students will have also gained hands-on experience building Afrofuturistic games, sounds, worlds, and immersive experiences.
